Overview
Barrettine Anti Slip Decking Oil is a protective top coat decking oil with anti-slip properties to improve the grip on decking, handrails, wooden steps and any area where improved grip is required, such as play frames. It produces a low sheen finish and contains UV stabilisers to help keep the wood from turning grey for longer.
It has superb water beading properties to resist flaking and cracking and contains a biocide to stop mould and fungal attacks.

Preparation
Ensure to fully prepare the surface prior to the application of Barrettine Anti Slip Decking Oil for long lasting results.
- New, unpreserved wood: Treat with Nourish & Protect Universal Preservative (ideally 2 coats, all sides) and leave to dry for 24 - 48 hours before using Anti-Slip Top Coat Decking Oil.
- Preserved new wood: Recommend treating with or micro porous finish (ideally 2 coats, all sides) and leave to dry for 24 - 48 hours.
- New wood should be first wiped down with white spirit to remove surface resins etc. Highly resinous timbers and some hardwoods may effect performance and final results. The surface is then prepared and ready for Anti-Slip Top Coat Decking Oil.
- Insitu / existing wood: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, dirt and algae. Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed before applying this product. Treat with a mould and mildew cleaner if necessary. Treat with 1-2 coats of a decking oil or microporous finish and leave to dry for 24 - 48 hours before applying Anti-Slip Top Coat Decking Oil
Application
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin, always perform a test to ensure compatability.
- Shake well before use and stir during use.
- Apply in temperatures exceeding 5°C only.
- If it is damp or likely to rain withing the next 24 hours, do not apply.
- Decant the Barrettine Anti Slip Decking Oil into a paint kettle and apply an even coat with a wide bristle brush, brushing in the direction of wood grain.
- Normally one liberally applied coat is enough, however a second coat may be applied after 12 - 24 hours. Leave for 24 - 72 hours or until completely dry before walking on the surface.
- Clean up all equipment with white spirit. Anti-Slip Top Coat Decking Oil is not suitable as a stand alone finish on bare or untreated decking boards and other timber surfaces.
